Description
This extract has a confirmed 20% Hydroxytyrosol. Hydroxytyrosol is a well-known minor component found in Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The usual dose of Hydroxytyrosol 20% would be 125 mg per day. People sensitive or allergic to olives or olive leaf should not take this product.
Hydroxytyrosol is a powerful polyphenol which occurs naturally in the olive fruit, pulp, leaves and mill waste waters.
Hydroxytyrosol has a potent antioxidant activity – it has one of the highest know ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) results known for a natural antioxidant. (ORAC is a method used to determine the antioxidant capacity of a food or chemical substance). Hydroxytyrosol from olive oil exerts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet aggregation and anti-atherogenic activities in in-vitro and animal models. However, its possible therapeutic use in humans requires additional clinical trials
