Description
Our Sacred Frankincense is a High Grade Premium Essential Oil and is imported direct from the Distillery in Oman.
Boswellia sacra (commonly known as frankincense or olibanum-tree) is a tree in the Burseraceae family. It is the primary tree in the genus Boswellia from which frankincense, a resinous dried sap, is harvested. It is native to the Arabian Peninsula (Oman, Yemen), and horn of Africa (Somalia).
This species of Boswellia is a small deciduous tree, which reaches a height of 2 to 8 m (6 ft 7 in to 26 ft 3 in), with one or more trunks. Its bark has the texture of paper and can be removed easily.
The trees start producing resin when they are about 8 to 10 years old.
The resin is extracted by making a small, shallow incision on the trunk or branches of the tree or by removing a portion of the crust of it. The resin is drained as a milky substance that coagulates in contact with air and is collected by hand.
Frankincense Sacra essential oil is slowly distilled from the resin of Frankincense trees which grow in the deep reaches of the southern Oman, an Arab country in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
Frankincense Sacra essential oil exudes deep-warmth, sublime sweet-notes and balsamic, ancient earthiness. When diffused, it adds serenity, grounding and reflection. It is very supportive of meditation. Aromatherapists consider it to have the highest energetic resonance of all the Frankincense varietals.
It can be used on a spiritual and mental level for purification, meditation, spiritual understanding, focus of intent, courage, protection, helps overcome fear, negative feelings, loss, grief, and the development of compassion.

Aromatherapy Use
Frankincense is useful for respiratory conditions, such as asthma, congestion, catarrh, coughs and laryngitis, also to improve the immune system against the common cold and flu, even mouth ulcers. It can also help with easing the nervous system, especially in times of nervous tension, stress and anxiety, and to encourage meditation. Useful in skin-care, as it helps to balance minor irritated skin conditions, such as blemishes, scars, minor wounds, wrinkles, assisting dry and mature skin. Some clinical studies of osteeoarthiritis and joint movement /function have indicated some improvements of pain and mobility.
